Rab|Labs – Review and Giveaway

I’ve always loved crystals. In fact my mother’s father mined crystals, so we always had them, especially the different types of quarts, around the house growing up. I remember as a child standing next to a piece of amethyst as big as I was. I’ve always been fascinated by them. That something so beautiful can be hiding in these big dirty rocks. The array of colors that are formed in the darkness of Earth, just waiting to be discovered. I remember as a kid digging in the yard and finding a shiny clear or white rock and being so excited I found a crystal. Of course when I got older I realized that basically the whole yard was full of milk quarts and that its very common. So it wasn’t like I made this huge discovery. Over the years I did learn to appreciate the more exciting and beautiful types of quarts though. A few of my favorite types of quartz are amethyst, black onyx, and Agate because of the the beautiful bright colors it is found in.

Given my love for crystals, I was immediately drawn to the beautiful Rab|Labs. Founder, Anna Rabinowcz,wanted to create objects that bring warmth to homes filled with technology and that explore the juxtaposition between natural materials and high-tech manufacturing techniques. She was quoted as saying, “My intention is to bring natural, warm elements into spaces constructed of hard materials – steal, glass, concrete, and plastic.” Well, if you ask me, she did just that. Since launching her first collection in August of 2002, she has expanded her items to include coasters, picture frames, trivets and plates, platters, napkin rings, bowls, candle sticks, bookends, bottle stoppers, ornaments and belts.

Many of Rab|Labs products contain the type of quarts, Agate. A semi-precious gemstone that was believed in ancient times, such as ancient Egypt, to possess incredible virtues, protecting its guardians from all dangers and bringing them pleasant dreams. I honestly cannot tell you if its protecting me from danger, or giving me pleasant dreams, but the blue agate frame on my desk is definitely giving Elijah’s photo a beautiful setting and adding color and a bright cheerful feeling to the whole area.
