Happy Holidays

I think TodaysMama said it best.

The newsletter from them on Tuesday started out:

"The TodaysMama staff wishes you the Happiest of Holidays.

Be safe. Don’t burn the pie. Take lots of photos, and for heavens sake, don’t let that one crazy relative get to you.

Merry Christmas!"

Yup. That about sums it up! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Make lemonade

I review products. I give positive and negative on the products. Sometimes there is no positive.

Due to a current situation a woman was thrust into the lime light. She just happens to be an author of a book.

I found the book. I reviewed the book. My review had nothing to do with my opinions of her or the current situation.

A person claiming to not be her and having nothing to do with the situation has used the negative opinion I left as their basis for attacking me. I wrote an open letter to them earlier this week, which you can view here.

Last I checked everybody was entitled to their own opinion. Positive or negative. Apparently it is not so.

This person has now taken the time to contact sponsors and friends to try to discredit me and prove me to be unethical. I have nothing to hide and those of you who know me, know that. I DID post a negative review on this book. I even did it under my own Amazon.com review account and name. As for the review itself, maybe it was a bit harsh. But it is my opinion and I am entitled to it. I post negative feedback. Up until now most companies I have worked with commended that.

I was just going to ignore her and let her go away, but I thought to be fair I should post her letter and share it with you all since she went to so much trouble to write it and might have missed someone. Here is her letter:

"Hello.

I am writing to alert you to someone who states she has a "relationship" with you. I do not know in what capacity she represents your company.

Erin Pyle from the website, "www.pyleoflove.com", has entered a Twitter fray by posting a bogus "review" of a book on Amazon.com. She does quite a good job of being vague in the details of her review. She is also very savvy about her deception--she reviewed two other products on the same day, hoping it would appear that she had a valid reason for signing in to Amazon reviews.

When one clicks from her Amazon page to her web page, as I did, there is a post about the person for whom she has taken up offenses. To be clear, Erin Pyle has been caught up in someone else's fight, and taken it a step further, in hopes of harming her "enemy", the author of the book.

Here is a link to Erin's "review", and the comments that respond to it:
http://www.amazon.com/review/R1STV9S8FRWKSW/ref=cm_cr_pr_cmt?ie=UTF8&ASIN=059528812X&nodeID=#wasThisHelpful

I question the unethical actions of Erin Pyle, and I hope that, as a representative of your company, you question her actions, too.

Thank you."

As for the review being bogus. She has no proof of this. Want to check the book out for yourself? Amazon will let you view some of the first pages.

As for claim I am just trying to 'harm' the author, I would like to point out that one negative review is not going to harm her if she is in fact worthy of positive ones. Thank you for giving me the credit for thinking that my one review to her many good reviews would be that influential in harming her.

Whether it's politics or social issues or whatever, we can be on different sides and still succeed.

You go your way, and I go mine. And we both have our own thoughts that cannot be swayed at the end of the day, and that's okay, believe it or not.

We are ALL entitled to our thoughts, good or bad.

I would like to also thank the person for their opinions because it made me remember that you have to take the good with the bad. When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. Something we all learned when we were children.

Wordless Wednesday - My little camera ham

Today's Wordless Wednesday is actually pretty wordy... lol

Elijah is a camera ham. He wants his picture taken so much it could be his job. Luckily for him one of my jobs is to take his picture.
The room that his play area is in is actually a 21 x 25 room. His play area takes up half and we have a home office on the other half. I could take a better picture of both sides but I already synced my camera for this post. hehe

So anyway... to divide the room we have a couch and then a long wooden gate/fence. You have probably seen it in some of my pictures... often.
Often if I am at my desk and Elijah is playing he will decide he wants me to play with him, so he will bring a toy or object he is playing with over to the fence. If I don't get right up that second and come over the fence to play he will throw the object over our side. It has become a little game now. We sit and throw the ball back and forth, stuffed animals. Anything that is safe to throw. Many times the little face he gives me while standing on his side is so adorable I have to take his picture. If he even senses the camera is near he will then strike a pose with whatever object he brought over!
I have seen him stand still for 3 minutes because he doesn't think I took a good enough picture. He will screech for me to take another and another until I get the shot HE wanted.
Then he walks away so I know picture time is over and I can come play with him now.
Sometimes he will be doing something cute across the room and I will try my hardest to pick up the camera quietly to snap the picture before he notices.
It's very rare I actually get the picture without him noticing the camera and jumping up to run to the fence, and if I do it's usually only with my camera phone which is obviously blurry at best.
I take AT LEAST 5 pictures of Elijah a day. Most of these pictures never get posted or printed and are just archived on disk after disk. I don't think the one picture a week on Wordless Wednesday is enough. I need to find more creative ways to share some of his pictures.

Happy Wordless Wednesday!

Tackle it Tuesday - OMG CHRISTMAS IS IN 3 DAYS AND I'M NOT READY edition

You know I haven't participated In Tackle it Tuesday since... Well actually I HAVE participated. I just seem to forget to take the before and after pictures for the posts.
And today was no exception. lol

There is so much to do before Christmas. I felt so on top of things for months now. Christmas shopping was DONE since we bought the very last thing on our list the first week in November. All the decorations were out of storage sitting in their boxes in the family room, the tree was standing (naked but standing) and the Christmas music was all loaded in the ipod waiting to be played.

So we finally decorated, did the tree, listened to the Christmas music, and were a week away from Christmas when 2 things dawned on me.
  1. I totally FORGOT 3 people we would be seeing at Christmas we needed to have something for.
  2. CHRISTMAS CARDS. durr. I forget these every year until last minute. I swear I am filling out next years cards and putting them in our 'to be mailed' sorter now.
So here we are now 2 days until Christmas Eve. We are snowed in. And by snowed in I mean we have 2 to 3 feet deep snow the entire 130 foot length of the driveway. We are all sick with a horrible cold. Elijah has SIX teeth coming in, all about an eighth of an inch through. I still am missing 1/2 the part of the gift for those 3 people. And still have not mailed a single Christmas card.

I did manage to 'wade' my way through to get the mail and then yesterday Dave cut us a path down, which was nice. But I have a sneaky feeling we are not going to be done in time. I shoveled for an hour and managed to get done our front walk. Well sort of. Dave finished the rest and shoveled for about 3 hours. He got about a 7 x 7 square done, plus the bath down the driveway, plus another path to the mail box. That alone is a TON of snow.

SO. We plan to tackle the following today:
  1. Clean Elijah's play area.
  2. Organize hats/gloves/scarves into over-the-door hanging plastic pockets.
  3. Straighten Elijah's room.
  4. Clean the kitchen.
  5. Clean the living room upstairs and rearrange all gifts.
  6. Straighten family room downstairs.
  7. Wrap remaining gifts.
  8. Pack all gifts that are going with us on Christmas Eve/Day.
  9. Get in the attic. Get out curtains I need and put the 30 boxes of things Elijah has outgrown up there.
  10. Figure out how to get out of the driveway. WOO 4 hours later! All snow is GONE! Dave & I alternated shoveling. We both ache now.
  11. Do the 3 2 1 loads of laundry that seemed to have mysteriously accumulated since yesterday.
  12. Put together ingredients and prepare to make a few 'dessert' gifts we are giving. (I have to make those on Wednesday night)
  13. Pack Elijah's diaper bag for holiday travel.
  14. Figure out how to get to the bank.
  15. Figure out how to get to the store to buy the last part of the present for the 3 people. Going tomorrow morning.
  16. Keep Elijah from having too many teething melt downs.
  17. Get rid of our colds. (Sanitize, Sanitize, SANITIZE!)
  18. And somehow finish and mail these Christmas cards.
I know there is probably more... but I don't want to think about it. I'll update you on my progress later by crossing things off as they get done!

Happy Tuesday!

Allstate's X the TXT: Thumbs Up to the Safest Holiday Ever

The holidays are one of the deadliest times for teen drivers. To combat this epidemic, Allstate has established,THUMBS UP TO THE SAFEST HOLIDAY EVER! Created to save the lives of teens this holiday season and to benefit NOYS, each person who joins this cause and pledges not to text and drive, Allstate will donate $1 to NOYS for teen safe driving programs, up to $25,000.

NOYS is a collaborative network of national organizations and federal agencies that serve youth and focus on youth safety and health. Through this network, NOYS influences more than 80 million young people ages 5 to 24 and adult advisers and supervisors. Their vision is to be the premier national youth health and safety coalition and their mission is to promote youth empowerment and leadership and to build partnerships that will save lives, prevent injuries, and promote safe and healthy lifestyles among all youth. NOYS is a longstanding leader in developing programs to promote youth traffic safety.

How you can give a Thumbs Up to the SAFEST HOLIDAY EVER:

Frequent family discussions about safe driving behavior is key to a safe teen driver! Fill up on some of the facts and then talk about them together often! Visit www.Allstate.com/teen to go to Allstate's website to download the Allstate Family Texting Pledge and start the conversation about responsible driving with your family!
  • Reaching for a phone while driving increases your risk of being in a car crash by nine times.
  • By pledging not to text and drive, you’re doing your part to help make this the Safest Holiday Ever.
  • The deadly consequences of texting while driving don’t just affect teens; it also affects their families, friends and communities.
  • We’re asking teens and teen influencers around the nation to take their thumbs off their cell phones and keep their eyes on the road.
Allstate's "X the TXT: Thumbs Up to the Safest Holiday Ever" campaign challenges teens and parents alike to make the pledge not text and drive. By joining the cause at www.causes.com/thumbsup, you're pledging to put your cell phone down behind the wheel. As part of the campaign, a 30-city "X the TXT," tour kicks off this holiday season during which teens and their families can add their thumbprints to a pledge banner as a public commitment not to text and drive.

I gave my thumbs up! Did you?

Buzzed driving IS drunk driving

It's holiday party season - time to celebrate all of the exciting winter holidays with our friends and loved ones. Our mailboxes are flooded with invitations to parties and dinners and other holiday get-togethers. With these parties come food, fellowship, gifts, and in many cases, festive alcoholic drinks.

In 2008, nearly 12,000 people in the U.S. were killed in alcohol-impaired driving crashes - and during the periods around Christmas and New Year's, this number was particularly high, with 316 people killed in alcohol-impaired driving crashes. In 2007, 162,493 women were arrested for a DUI, an increase of almost 29% since 1998. You can't help but wonder if lives could have been saved if people thought twice before getting behind the wheel. With the holidays approaching, it's important that drivers be reminded about the dangers of buzzed driving. Who knows...it could save a life.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA) and the Ad Council are asking everyone to drive smart this holiday season and to pledge not to drive buzzed.

For more information you can follow Buzzed Driving on Twitter @buzzeddriving and on Facebook to get the latest updates and news. You can also visit the Buzzed Driving website and sign a pledge (I signed too) to not drive buzzed, play an interactive game which demonstrates the difference between buzzed and drunk, and hear personal stories from people who have driven buzzed.

While at holiday events, it's easy to lose track of a drink here or there - but this can be fatal. This holiday season, keep you and your family safe by spreading this message.

Have a safe and happy holiday and remember
buzzed driving IS drunk driving.

If you're dreaming of a white Christmas...

... you should be at our house!

The snow started Friday night and went strong until about 1am Sunday morning. It was still flurrying around 3:18am, but has been stopped since about 5am. All in all we got about 3 feet at our house. They declared a state of emergency so luckily people have been off the roads. The road our house is on is a snow emergency route and IT is barely passable. We watched a few cars slide off Saturday morning. They have been plowing and salting all day but it's just so much snow and it's so cold that it's not going anywhere.

I took pictures through out the day and had been tweeting them. If you want to look back at them you can see my twitpic account, http://twitpic.com/photos/erinjeany. That was up to about 10 hours ago. I will be taking new ones tomorrow with the good camera to share exactly how much we really got!

I took a few tonight including the one above.

Here you can see the snow covering our other car. It's a Ford Tarus. Not a small car.
Here you can see the snow covering our Christmas lights in the bushes. We dug the walkway out after I took this. Those lights are actually about 2 feet deep. They are the big bulb kind and actually melted the snow around themselves and made little caves under there. So neat how they shine through.
Will share more after the sun comes up! :) Happy Snowed in Sunday!

Open letter to my harasser

First of all I want to thank this person, who seems at this point to have 17 different names, for taking the time to visit my family blog and to openly threaten my child's life and others both here and on amazon's reviews because I :::GASP::: posted a negative book review.

I would next like to point out that just because I have a child AND just happen to have a parenting blog (among many of the places I write) it does NOT make me just a 'mommy blogger'. And just because I left a negative review does NOT make me a cyber bully. I was just a person who ended up a target of some weird agenda by someone who obviously cannot handle criticism.

If you look back in my amazon reviews you will see Mrs. Mcgraw's book is not the first negative I have left. I actually left one for Black and Decker when I was not happy with one of their quick start battery chargers. But did they retaliate with hate and ignorance? No. Why? Because instead of freaking out that someone didn't like their product, they took my experience and used it to create new products that fit the needs of the consumer better.

If you are this upset about my negative comment (about a book you claim to not even write or haven't read) then don't you think you should do something constructive with this energy and figure out ways that Mrs. Mcgraw could use my negativity to help her writing improve?

I am not going to play this immature game with you. Which is why I refuse to argue with you in the comments of amazon.com of all places. I ask that you please leave my family alone and drop all matters that have to do with us or Mrs. Ross from your agenda. My relationship with any other person you have targeted is also none of your concern and in no way affected my review.

I did not 'gang' up on you or Mrs. McGraw and I don't want anything to do with you. I will gladly erase my review if I knew it would make you go away. I also have nothing to do with the comments left on my review or here by other amazon users. Don't you think if I was just doing it to be 'mean' I would have done it under a alias or fake amazon account? Not my real account? Come on now.

Oh and one last thing, for someone who complains about people spending too much time on the internet, you sure are on top of things as soon as someone leaves something negative.

It's begining to look a lot like Christmas...

It's snowing here. Started last night and is supposed to last until Sunday. I believe the last amount I read was something like 22 inches. Although it's changing every few hours so who knows. Just thought I would share some of the Christmas activities we have been up to!

We spent all evening Wednesday decorating for Christmas as a family. I had put the tree up about 3 weeks ago. JUST the tree. It sat around naked for a while until finally schedules, moods, and naps all coordinated together. We realized pretty quickly Elijah would have to assist by dancing in his playpen to Christmas music. He's a good helper, but doesn't exactly follow directions. That was okay with him though, he danced away and watched a giant Care Bear snow globe I had put out. Apparently he likes that better then the tree.

We decorated a bit different then last year. We have the big tree in the front upstairs bay window (our formal living room) instead downstairs in the home office and playroom. And the other 2 trees I didn't even put up yet. If you can't remember what our trees looked like last year here is a few pictures:

That is our formal living room looking from the dining room. The tree straight ahead was done in all gold and antique colored glass ornaments. The tree on the left is all silver, clear glass, and pastel blues, pinks, and purples. It also had Dave's train under it. Obviously not 'baby proof' trees. He loved looking at them last year, but since he can touch this year, I think I will be skipping them. This was our main family tree I was talking about. The gifts didn't really fit under the tree and ended up taking up that half of the room. That's why I think it's better this tree is upstairs this year with more room around it. All the ornaments that adorn this tree are family ornaments, ones Dave and I have had since we were kids, and ornaments the represent us. It's not really a themed tree, its just our family tree.
I had to include this picture too. This is our family room downstairs. On the right of the mantle is a stocking tree that I designed and started and Dave finished. I know you can't see very well because of all the stuff on it but it is totally made out of wood and painted. The arms to hold the stockings are candy cane's. There is also another on top (under Elijah's Santa hat) We each have an arm and there is one more for at least 1 of Elijah's future siblings. If we need more, Mommy and Daddy will just have to share an arm! The big stocking on the left side of the mantle is our family stocking. I put things for the whole family to share in there like home made goodies, board games, etc. This year our stocking tree is upstairs with the tree and because we have a new huge mirror over the fireplace the mantel decorations are totally different.

I will share pictures of the house for this year as soon as I am completely done.

So back to the story, we spent a few hours decorating the tree, the room, and dancing around to Christmas music. We also put all of Elijah's big presents together. This is the last year we will be able to have his stuff right in front of him and he not know the difference. Besides his presents I had picked out to get him, I got him two of the giant stuffed animals from ToysRus. They were a special, if you spend $50, you could buy one of these for $5 each. I got him both types they had, the puppy and the bear because I couldn't choose. Well that was the only thing I was not able to sneak by with. He saw them and exclaimed "AAAHHHHHHHHHAAAAAWWWW" (his loving 'hug' sound) so I handed them in to him. He grabbed them both so tight and started giving them hugs and kisses. It was so cute! He obviously likes them.

Thursday I was able to finish the decorating upstairs. Now just to do downstairs and finish wrapping a few extra gifts.

Friday morning when Elijah went down for a nap Dave and I had the chance to get a few things done outside to prepare for the snow. We cleaned all our outdoor furniture up and put it in storage under our deck. We had a pretty rough wind storm last week that reminded us we hadn't done that yet. Then later in the evening Dave put up all our outdoor lights. They look beautiful. We waited until there was about 2 inches on the ground and all got bundled up and took Elijah outside to see the snow and the lights. He was hestitant at first. I think he was confused as to what this stuff was falling from the sky. I also think it was partly because he was wearing so much clothing it was hard to move. But as soon as I stood him up in the driveaway he was so exited. He walked through the snow, he stomped, he walked soft, and then he looked behind him to see the prints he left. He crouched down to touch it and realized it was difficult through the mittens. He asked for help to go up the stepped brick walkway to the porch and front door to admire the little wooden lit Christmas tree. He admired the big outdoor lights in the bushes.

We were only out there for about 5 minutes and Elijah decided it was time to come in. He suddenly stopped playing in the snow, turned to me and said 'in' and set off towards the garage. I followed him all the way through the garage and opened the door for him. He went right in and asked for his coat off. ...How old is he again? Apparently he wanted to go eat because he said 'eat' and signed for it as soon as I freed his hands.

I can't believe it is already his second Christmas. I can't believe we just walked through the snow together for the first time. He danced to Christmas music for the first time.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the Pyle household, but all I want for Christmas is for time to slow down so I can enjoy my little boy just a few minutes longer each day.

Every ounce of love and prayer. Every ounce.

For a little over a month now we have been diligently praying for the recovery for our dear blogging sister Anissa. She suffered a terrible stroke that has left her hospitalized, unable to communicate and with a very unsure future. We have cried, we have laughed, and we have cheered at her progress. We check for updates from her husband everyday and we all tear up hearing she made the slightest motion. We keep the faith that she will be her self again. That Anissa will pull through. That her children will have their Mommy back.

It's amazing to see such a huge group of people care and join together for someone. Whether or not they knew Anissa, people from all over the world are praying for her everyday. They are sending the family things. They are sending their love and hope.

It was the same when sweet angels Tuesday and Maddie received their wings. The help and support that followed by friends and complete strangers reminds us that there is still very much love in the world.

With any big group you will have happy moments, you will have funny moments, you will have wonderful moments you will never forget. But you will also share in sadness. We bloggers spend our days sharing the memories, the sights, the sounds, the heart of our lives, so it's only natural that when something tragic happens that we want to reach out and help. Our hearts break for our friends.

One of these heart breaking events happened this evening. Our dear Shellie (@military_mama) lost her beautiful two year old son.

There are never any words to say that can console this sort of sadness and broken heart. It must have taken me 20 minutes to form the simple tweet I sent her. All I could say was "I wish there was something I could say to you @military_mom. My heart goes out to you, as does every ounce of love and prayer. every ounce."

It is so hard to know what to say. For all the happy occasions we bloggers celebrate together, and all the words we share, the sad occasions still leave us speechless.

So I will do the one thing I can possibly do to help, and ask you my dear readers, my dear friends, PLEASE send every ounce of love and prayer possible to Shellie and her family. Her husband is not home yet (he is military) and they will need every ounce of extra strength we can share to help them through this.

Trisha has posted a post about this here and included a mailing address if you wish to send a card to the family. She is sending them on Monday. You can also contact Trish for Shellie's paypal address or more info if you wish to donate monetary support or anything else.

Thank you for reading and thank you in advance for any prayers you can send.

We are sending every ounce of our love, prayers and support Shellie! Every ounce!

Wordless Wednesday - first haircut

Elijah had his very first haircut...

Mommy doesn't like it. I miss his beautiful curls.
(See header picture to compare. It was the before.)

Daddy likes it. They both match now. But he does agree, it's too short.

Ah well. It grows back.

Happy WW!

Felt Cupcakes!

I love felt toys! So much that I started making Elijah some of his own. I have been gaining inspiration from all over and seeing the cutest things! While I was browsing around this evening I happened upon the cutest felt cupcake set! I absolutely LOVE this Felt Cupcake and Muffin Bake Set by Simple Me Boutique! Each one of her handmade sets is made upon request for your child to bake and decorate their own cupcakes and muffins!

AH! I will have to start some research and look through my bookmarks. I think an article for my examiner column would be a great way to share some of the other fun felt toys I have stumbled across. :)

LATCH Drive across country for child passenger safety

With the holiday season moving into full swing, families across the country are in the car and on the go. Whether you're driving across the country to visit family, or across town to holiday shop, it is important that your child passengers are riding safely and that child safety seats are used correctly.

AAA estimated that 30 million people travelled this Thanksgiving holiday alone and for many this is just the beginning of the holiday hustle and bustle. Now is the time to utilize the Child Car Safety tools provided by the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Ad Council to learn more about proper car seat use and installation. You will find informative resources that include instructional videos.

Have child passenger safety questions that you need answered before you travel over the river and through the woods to Grandmas? NHTSA is always available to answer your questions online through Facebook and Twitter.

We may not drive far on the holidays, but making sure our family is properly buckled up, no matter the distance, is always our first priority. My husband and I always double check Elijah's car seat every ride and then ensure he is properly secured in. His life depends on us making safe decisions while in the vehicle. Please remember to do the same for your children.

Drive safely and happy holiday!

Introducing...

Our new name!
One Big 'Pyle' of Love

A much as we loved the name From Son Up To Son Down, we needed to expand, and the domain we wanted was already taken. We want to be able to have a domain name and site name that stands for us, stands for our family, and stands for the things we share with you. We will also be merging posts from MLT to here which includes not only my and Dave's contributions, but posts done by my dear friends and contributors. So after much consideration of the direction this blog is headed, Dave and I thought it might be a good idea to start with a new domain and name.

After weeks and weeks of lists of names, we finally settled on our third idea, 'One Big Pyle of Love' for our new name. We thought another play on words was cute and that this site name using our last name, captured our family as a whole. This name works even if down the road Elijah was to gain boy or girl siblings. Where as FSUTSD really was more of a 'parents to only boys' kind of name.

As you may have noticed you can still get here from http://ejsmomej.blogspot.com BUT we have a fancy NEW easier to remember web address you can use to get to us too!
http://www.pyleoflove.com

You may have also noticed there is some blog design changes going on around here! This design is only temporary! Dave and I have been working on the new design for a few days now after Elijah is in bed and hope to have it finished as soon as we can.

We also have a new temporary button for those of you who are linking to us! (code link in the right sidebar)

What do you think?

*Note* Changes and improvements will be happening frequently for a while. If you encounter any issues with our site or pages after a few tries, please contact us. :)

Mama’s Holiday Wish List Meme

TodaysMama and Provo Craft are giving away a sleighful of gifts this holiday season and to enter I’m sharing this meme with you.

1. What 5 items are on your holiday wish list this year?
I am a really practical wisher! A new 12" (or bigger) skillet, a new bundt cake pan, one of the Wilton Giant cupcake pans, some new bras and undies, and a new electric razor (which I know Hubby already got. Apparently my leg hair had become...comparable to an amazon woman.)

OH and my number one wish, which we can't afford at the moment, but still wish for anyway, is a new Mac. Preferably either a Mac Mini or the 27" iMac.

2. What is your favorite handmade gift you have received?
I actually JUST received a handmade birthday/anniversary calendar from my sister in law. I absolutely LOVE it! I also have 3 blankets that were handmade by my grandmother I absolutely adore. She made some of my very favorite gifts my entire life.

3. What handmade gift have you always wanted to tackle?
I usually do many handmade gifts. I am big for making blankets and pillows. This year I REALLY wanted to do Elijah's hand print in plaster as an ornament but just haven't gotten the supplies yet. I can't think of a single gift I have always wanted to do, but haven't.

4. What was the best Christmas gift you received as a child?
Wow. That's a tough choice. I received many material things I cherished for years. BUT I would have to say the best gift I ever received was the Christmas I was able to celebrate with my entire family. My parents divorced, my family split and Christmas became sort of a sad holiday for me. Christmas's that I was able to celebrate with my mom, dad, brother, and I together was the best present. It reminds me to teach my son the most important gift at Christmas is not the material things, it's each other. Our love, our health and our lives together.

5. What items are on your kid’s wish list this year?
Elijah asked for a train set (which Santa brought early for fear it would be a pain to set up), a childs table and chairs, some little people toys. He has a wishpot list (here) I keep updated all year round. He also asked his grandfather to build him a special rocket shelf for his space themed room.

6. What is your favorite holiday food?
I LOVE yams! Besides that, I do a lot of cooking, especially during the holidays, and love making yummy holiday pies, cookies and desserts too!

7. What will you be hand-crafting for the holidays?
I am in the process of making Dave and Elijah special Christmas cards using my Cricut! If I have time I want to make them for others as well. I also used my Cricut and cut out some paper shapes to modge podge to christmas balls and make unique new ornaments. I love the cute snow flakes in the accents cartridge!

8. What is your favorite holiday movie?
I absolutely LOVE Charlie Brown Christmas. Dave, Elijah and I have already watched it probably 10 times since Thanksgiving. I also love Mixed Nuts! It is hilarious! I watch it all year! I even ripped a copy to my ipod now so I can watch any time!

9. Favorite holiday song?
Alvin and Chipmunks - Christmas Don't Be late! I have loved it since I was a kid. I am excited to teach Elijah some of the other fun songs like Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer. I don't normally listen to the 'slow' Christmas songs like Silent Night because they make me cry. Yeah. I'm just a little emotional sometimes. lol

10. Favorite holiday pastime?
My favorite holiday pastime just started last year actually! It's decorating and celebrating with my son! Last year he was only 2 months when I decorated, but his little eyes lit up! I was so happy to have my little man to celebrate with I actually put up 4 trees!!! I can't wait to see him react this year! We are putting the decorations up this week. Although I don't think I will be doing all 4 trees! lol I will try to just to one! :)

Now to tag some friends to fill in the meme!
(I'm sure they wouldn't mind entering to win!)
