As you might have seen I've reviewed Golden Groundhog before and we love them! Whether it's their Pokemon lots or their Magic the Gathering lots they always exceed expectations!
This time I had the pleasure of enjoying the 30 Pokemon Card lot featuring Mewtwo Ex Ultra Rare holo and Mega Mewtwo Figure. It also features 20 common and uncommon cards with no duplication, a mix of 9 holo and reverse holos, or rares. As always the purchase comes with 3 Custom Golden Groundhog Token Counters, which I explain below.
What I love: For all of us that love Pokemon there are certain coveted cards that we have to have. Back in the day it was Ancient Mew, these days its Mewtwo Ex Ultra. This card is beautiful! I love that it also comes with the Mega Mewtwo figure! This is the perfect lot for Mew lovers! My 30 was made up of Mewtwo, 4 reverse holos, 3 holos, 2 rares, 3 trainers and 17 common and uncommon Pokemon. All the cards are perfect condition and there are no duplicates as promised. When I was in middle school Pokemon cards just were coming out and to get them you went to the store and bought these sets and would get doubles and triples of the same cards over and over just fighting to find that one card you were dying for. With Golden Groundhog sets you don't have that issue! There is also no energy cards in the lots, only actual Pokemon and trainer cards. We are super pleased with this order and would definitely buy this lot again.
The last thing I wanted to address is the Golden Groundhog Custom Token Counters because I notice the majority of people reading through the Amazon reviews of Golden Groundhog's products don't realize what these actually are! Many people are looking for actual small round tokens, no cards, so I thought I would explain a little more about what these Golden Groundhog Custom Token Counters are.
Damage on a Pokemon is represented by damage counters. Each counter represents 10 damage. Damage is permanent unless it is removed by an effect, modifier, a trainer card or that Pokemon leaves play. A Pokemon can accumulate damage greater than its maximum HP. So you have to have a way to keep track of that damage to know when the Pokemon is able to fight or not. Any number of small objects will suffice, pennies, rocks, candy, as long as it is understood by both players that each counter represents 10 damage. Then there are other counters for poison damage and another for burn. If a Pokemon is Poisoned, put a poison counter on it to show that it's poisoned. As long as it's still Poisoned, you have to add another poison counter on it after each player's turn, ignoring weakness and resistance. So each Pokemon could essentially end up with piles of counters on it and unless you are really clear with your counters you could forget which was HP and which was poison very easily! Rules say any counters used must be readable by all players, and especially with younger the children playing, the more likely that they may forget what's damage, whats burned, what's poisoned. With Golden Groundhog Custom Token Counters you don't have that issue. Each card is super clear showing +10 damage, poisoned or burned. I LOVE that each pack comes with these! We don't have many of them yet so what we do is lay out one of each and then use colored stones (blue, green, and brown) right on top of each card below the Pokemon they are used for. Since Elijah is only 7 and just getting into playing this is much easier for him to see his Pokemon and know exactly how he's holding up. I hope this helps anyone not sure what the Counter Tokens are.
I really love it and give it 5 out of 5 stars.
